My latest blog post with Matthijs van de Peppel. Why and how organizations need to engage in exercises to redefine their core mission as they work through digital transformation with their teams. With the methods we propose, a mission statement is brought to life for employees. And there is no stronger predictor for success than employees imbued with the mission.
Nice video interview with Instagram co-founder Mike Krieger on early growth stories. “Instagram editor” is now an official title at The Washington Post, aiming to ramp up visual storytelling on the platform and ultimately convert some of its Instagram followers into paying subscribers.
Instead of diversifying white spaces, a new company URL Media aims to build and grow black and brown voices on their own terms. The overall goal for URL Media is to distribute the content from existing so called community media outlets through social, newsletters, and the partners’ own platforms. URL Media is an acronym for Uplift, Respect and Love. It wants to secure advertising, sponsors, and syndication deals, too. Meanwhile Hearst’s first diversity and inclusion report finds 73% of staff is white, while 8% were Black or African American and another 8% were Hispanic or Latinos.
Profile on Laurene Powell Jobs (Steve’s widow), who’s spent $250m on journalism in the last five years and becoming somewhat of a force in media. A 70 percent stake in The Atlantic, but also Axios; The Athletic; and podcast company Pushkin Industries, ProPublica and more.

US President Joe Biden vowed to replace the government’s fleet of roughly 650,000 vehicles with electric models as the new administration shifts its focus toward clean-energy. It is never too late to change.
Thank you Vincent Peyregne for adding me to Clubhouse. After almost a week of listening, and after getting past the weird excitement of being in a live session with the world’s richest man Elon Musk (along with 5,000 others), I still have to find real relevance. Lots of distraction here. Perhaps I have to start a room of my own. Please give me your thoughts on this audio platform in the comments.
I love to transform businesses by forging high performance teams, connecting the world of suits to the creative world of sneakers. With these teams I have learnt from our many mistakes and successes, pioneering digital renovations that produced tens of millions in bottom line increases.
