I love the way The Information treats its subscribers as members. As part of the family. They don’t treat the comments section like comments. It becomes a catalyst for really good thought leadership and dialogue. Subscribers have a profile page. They can interact in Slack. CEOs are in there. It might be valuable to rethink perfomance KPIs of articles and use this interaction. And I am thinking quality over quantitiy here. Knowing who is reading your stories may be more important than how much minutes, scrolls, clicks and shares it has gathered in total. For impact, we may prefer one CEO or minister reading the article over a hundred others.
